DIRECTOR OF NURSING

The Director of Nursing is a full-time, salaried position that, by regulation, works a minimum of 40 hours per week, five days per week.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan, organize, develop, and lead the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local laws guidelines and regulations to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
  2. Determine staffing needs, assign staff, schedule, evaluate, and discipline Nursing Department employees.
  3. Make daily rounds of the Nursing Department as required by regulation to ensure all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
  4. Develop, maintain, and periodically update the Nursing Standards, Policies and Procedures Manual.
  5. Prepare the budget for the Nursing Department.
  6. Assure the stock level of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc. is maintained on premises at all times to adequately meet the needs of the residents.
  7. Work with other departments to coordinate nursing services with other resident services.
  8. Participate in the QAA Committee including develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the Nursing Department.
  9. Work closely with the Staff Development Director in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of timely staff development classes to ensure a well-educated Nursing Department.

 

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of NH, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience as a nurse, including at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, nursing home, or related medical facility.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long term care.
