Coös County Commissioners Select new Corrections Superintendent
The Coös County Commissioners have announced the selection of Benjamin Champagne as Superintendent of Corrections, effective February 15, 2017. Currently serving as Community Programs Corporal, as Superintendent he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the correctional facility, the Coös Recycling Center, and the Coös County Transfer Station. Champagne will take over leadership of the department from retiring superintendent, Craig Hamelin.
Champagne joined the department in 2007 as a Correctional Officer. In 2010, he was promoted to Corporal, and then promoted to Sergeant in 2013. In 2015, he was selected for the position of Community Programs Corporal, which supervises community work programs, including the Coös County Recycling Center. Champagne has served in numerous additional roles in the Department throughout his career, such as Field Training Officer, Facility Training Coordinator, Staff Instructor, and NHAC Academy Instructor.
